Saturday 2026 AERC Young Rider 75-Mile Championship Results:
After two years of false starts, Biltmore DID host the AERC Young Riders Championship. And, thanks to Annie Whelan's efforts, Specialized Saddles sponsored a saddle as the first to finish award! Annie also got Riding Warehouse to sponsor some more incidental awards, such as some of their black 'everything' bags and combination hoof pick / brushes.
Avery Betz won the YR Championship on Djets Mojo |
Six Young Riders brought can-do attitudes and well-conditioned horses to compete against the course, and, incidentally, each other. The event was co-run with the AERC open 75-mile ride so the Young Riders had more potential fellow-riders for on trail companionship (and, incidentally, could cross-pollinate teams).
Four riders completed, with Avery Betz coming first on Djets Mojo in a ride time of 9:11:58. Second and third place Young Riders were Meghan Wert on Muzsique and Aubrey Muthard on Meg Sleeper's Syrocco Kalypso .... they were one second apart at 10:11:51 and 10:11:52. Fourth Young Rider was Mia Moore on her Sonrise Basko (Riven) in 13:38:18. Well spread out! So, Avery won the Specialized Saddles saddle, presented by David Webb-Kaden from Specialized Saddles. The other finishers got to choose from the Riding Warehouse goodies. And a $100 gift card from Endurance Boutique for Meghan Wert as second place YR.
Top ten awards were books on the Biltmore House.
Best Conditioned was won by Avery Betz, getting a headstall and reins donated by Taylored Tack. High vet score also went to Avery Betz, getting a basket of goodies donated by Biltmore Grown.
Back of the pack was Mia Moore, and she won a tote bag, donated by Biltmore Hospitality, containing a picnic blanket with the Biltmore House on it; Biltmore Monopoly (how appropriate!); and some Biltmore Grown goodies.
